Emerald Isle Storm Update

Hurricane Sandy is creating rainy and windy conditions in Emerald Isle, but town leaders say they do not expect significant impacts from the storm as it skirts the North Carolina coast.

The rains and wind started Saturday morning, with the highest gust so far 41 miles per hour at Emerald Isle Fire Station 1, with sustained winds around 20 to 25 miles per hour.

A news release reports the Emerald Isle bridge remains open to all vehicular traffic.
