With clear skies and westerly winds, our temperatures in eastern Carolina will tumble all the way down to the mid 20s tonight. Even areas along the coast that normally stay above freezing due to their proximity to warm ocean waters will see their thermometers drop below 32°.
The cold temperatures will last until late in the morning as the sun moves further over head, allowing for more direct heating. This means Monday morning commuters should be prepared for a cold drive in to the office.
Clouds will roll in late on Monday, giving our night time lows a reprieve from their deep drop tonight. New Year's Eve lows are expected to bottom out in the upper 30s.
