High pressure will gradually build into eastern Carolina over the next few days. Afternoon temperatures will gradually increase, with highs in the lower to middle 80s Tuesday. Mainly sunny skies and warmer conditions can be expected during the latter portion of the week.

Early indications point to a very warm Labor Day Weekend, with highs well into the 80s to around 90 degrees. A few showers may arrive by the end of the weekend and Labor Day.

Hurricane Cristobal will continue to move slowly northward away from the Bahamas. The storm is expected to move north then northeast and away from the Southeast coast later in the week. The storm will be about 350 miles or more offshore at the closest point to the North Carolina coast on Wednesday. Rough surf will be experienced through Thursday, with wave heights subsiding by the Labor Day Weekend.
