UPDATE: Boats Capsized In Pamlico River

The Coast Guard reports between ten and twelve boats capsized in the Pamlico River in Washington Sunday.

Throughout Sunday evening, WITN received reports of possible missing boaters. However, officials told us there were no active searches.

The Washington fire department did successfully rescue one person who was in the water holding onto the railroad trestle. That person is okay.

Previous Story
As of 9 p.m. Sunday, we were still getting reports of possible boaters missing in Beaufort County waterways.

We checked again with officials Sunday night, and there were no current reports of anyone missing in the water.

Earlier, reports of boats overturned in the Chocowinity Bay led to a thorough search by the Sydney dive team, Bath fire department, Washington fire department and people on the shore.

The Washington fire department did successfully rescue one person who was in the water holding onto the railroad trestle. That person is okay.
