A strong cold front will move off the East Coast early Tuesday ushering in the coldest air of the winter season. Temperatures will plummet into the 20s and 30s as far south as northern and central Florida. Gusty winds will cause wind chills to fall into the teens as far south as the Carolinas. The air is generally dry but snow squalls will fall in the Appalachian Mountains and along the Great Lakes. The cold weather is expected to last through midweek before slow moderation.
