Hurricane Sandy will begin to impact our weather by late Friday. Clouds will increase slowly from the south as the storm moves northward off the Southeast coast. Isolated showers are possible during the afternoon with more general rain likely by late Friday night or Saturday. The heaviest rainfall will be along and east of Highway 17. The ultimate track of the storm will determine rain amounts across our area . Strongest winds will occur along the Outer Banks where 40 to 50 knot winds are possible. Inland communities could see winds of 20 to 30 mph but damaging winds are not likely as the storm will stay about 150 miles east of the Outer Banks. Much cooler air will filter into the area by Sunday and early next week as the storm pulls further north.
