A winter storm warning is in effect today for Beaufort, Dare, mainland Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell and Washington counties. A winter storm advisory is in effect today for the rest of Eastern Carolina. The threats are snow, sleet and freezing rain.
A slow moving low pressure system just off the coast will keep clouds across the area. A passing shower will be possible late in the day on Monday, but showers will shift to drizzle later in the evening.
Temperatures will respond to any sun by reaching the mid 70s. Areas receiving extended periods of sunshine could reach the 80° mark. The storm system responsible for the wet weather much over the weekend will spin some additional showers into the area by Tuesday. Warmer and drier area should arrive by the middle of next week.
