Very warm and generally dry conditions will prevail across the area through mid week with highs in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees. Each day will feature a slim chance of isolated afternoon thunderstorms.
Much better rain chances will arrive late Thursday into Friday as a cold front approaches eastern Carolina. Scattered showers and storms will become likely by Thursday night into Friday before clearing the area Friday night.
Behind the front, highs will drop to the mid 70s under mostly sunny skies over the weekend.
