Expect one more hot day here in eastern Carolina before slightly cooler air arrives courtesy of a cold front and increased rain chances.
High temperatures today will be similar to the previous few days with most areas reaching into the lower 90s and a few of our northern counties potentially reaching into the middle 90s.
Gates, Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, Chowan, and Perquimans counties are all under a heat advisory until 6pm.
Temperatures there will reach into the lower to middle 90s with a heat index approaching 104-108° during the afternoon.
Although our southern and central counties are not under a heat advisory temperatures will still be very hot with a heat index in the triple digits.
Any outdoor activity today should be limited and be sure to drink lots of water.
Friday will not be quite as hot with highs generally in the upper 80s and an increased chance for afternoon showers and storms.
Although it will still be muggy do not expect another heat advisory tomorrow as the extreme heat will be suppressed by the cloud cover and increased rain chances.
