A winter weather advisory is in effect until 7am on Saturday for Beaufort, Mainland Hyde, Martin, Outer Banks Dare, Tyrrell, Washington and western Dare County. The threats are black ice and slick roadways.
One more day of hot conditions can be expected across the area on Thursday. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s under partly to mostly sunny skies. Heat indices will hit the lower to middle 90s.
A strong cold front arriving early Friday could bring a few showers or storms. The front will be followed by much cooler and drier air Friday night through the weekend. Afternoon highs both Saturday and Sunday will top out in the middle to upper 70s with overnight lows in the mid 50s.
