A winter weather advisory has been issued for all of eastern Carolina except Carteret, Onslow, and Duplin counties through 4am Friday. Rain and light sleet continues to fall through the area. Temperatures are still about freezing.
Scattered showers will be in the forecast through most of the week. Most days will not be a total washout but locally heavy rains will threaten the area.
The best rain chances will come on Monday and Friday at about 60%, otherwise rain chances will run at about 30% through the week with the best chances coming during the afternoon hours. The showers and storms will bring locally heavy rainfall from slow-moving storms. Intervals of sun and clouds can be expected during most afternoons. Temperatures will generally be in the middle to upper 80s, reaching the low 90s by midweek. The heat index will push near the triple digits by Wednesday.
