A strong cold front pushed through the area on Wednesday evening bringing strong winds and showers. Winds gusted as high as 78 mph in Washington as the front moved through. Chilly conditions have returned in the wake of the front and a rather cold Friday is on tap. Highs will likely not get out of the 40s during the afternoon. A brief warm-up will occur on Saturday ahead of another strong cold front that will reach the coast Saturday night. Showers will likely accompany the front with drier and colder conditions on Sunday and Monday. Even colder air will arrive by the middle to latter part of next week.
