New Orleans On Edge
Tropical Storm Gustav was nearly stationary today but all indications point to a potential disaster for New Orleans. Reporter: Marvin Daugherty |

Tropical Storm Gustav paused near Jamaica late Thursday but all indications now point to a major hurricane strike on the Gulf Coast late Monday or Tuesday. At the current time all eyes are on New Orleans, especially after what happened with Hurricane Katrina in 2005. A state of emergency has been declared for the area and National Guard troops are being mobilized. The storm should enter the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday as a category 2 storm and should grow at least to a category 3 before landfall. Severe flooding and strong winds in excess of 100 mph can be expected along and near the storm's path.
