Heavy rain and the threat of severe weather linger over North Carolina as the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay continue their passage through the state.
National Weather Service meteorologist Brandon Vincent said the interaction of a warm front and Fay's remnants will keep rain in the forecast for Thursday. He said the combination of moist air and daytime heating will set off showers and possible thunderstorms.
Vincent said areas south of the warm front face the bigger threat of thunderstorms and possible tornadoes. Those places north of the front could get rain in addition to cool temperatures and cloudy skies.
As for Friday, Vincent said models are split between a chance of showers and a drying out period.
