Eastern North Carolina is getting some much needed rain after a summer of drought conditions. Some areas have received as much as two to three inches since Tuesday. More showers are in the forecast for Thursday and Friday which should bring beneficial rainfall to areas hard-hit by the summer year-long drought. Sky conditions will improve to partly sunny by Friday and that should continue into Labor Day. The risk for showers will decrease so Labor Day vacationers should have a great weekend regardless of whether you're at the beach, at the mountains or in your own backyard. Temperatures will be warm with highs in the middle to upper 80s each afternoon.
