Heat Wave To Continue In Eastern North Carolina
Soaring temperatures and high relative humidity levels will continue to give Eastern North Carolina a real taste of summer.

On Tuesday, Eastern North Carolina was hit by another day of highs in the middle 90s with heat index values between 100° and 105°. The heat will continue into next week. The only relief in sight is the hope for a few thunderstorms each afternoon and evening. The best chances for activity appears to be on Thursday and Friday as a weak cold front drops into the area. Temperatures may briefly hold in the lower 90s at the end of the week but a building ridge of high pressure will pump extremely hot air back into the area by early next week. We may even see temperatures near 100° by Monday and Tuesday. The beaches will be about 10° cooler most afternoons with highs mainly in the upper 80s to around 90°.
