Portions of central Iowa received three to five inches of rain early Friday as a slow moving frontal system moved into the area. After record-breaking floods in June more rain was the last thing residents of the drenched state wanted to see. About three inches of rain fell in Waterloo and Des Moines with nearly five inches in Ames. The nearly stationary front responsible for the nasty weather will likely bring another round of heavy showers and thunderstorms on Saturday before finally moving to the east on Sunday.
