A winter weather advisory has been issued for all of eastern Carolina except Carteret, Onslow, and Duplin counties from 6pm Thursday through 4am Friday. Light freezing rain and sleet will be possible.
Although Thursday may remain mostly sunny it appears clouds will increase and the threat of rain will increase by Friday. A slow moving low pressure developing in the northeastern Gulf of Mexico will spread showers slowly northward by Friday and Saturday. Some areas could experience heavy rainfall by the weekend. Temperatures will be held down by the clouds and showers so that most areas should remain below 90° through the weekend. Next week promises to bring more sunshine and temperatures back into the lower 90s.
