Eastern North Carolina will have its best risk of showers this month over the weekend as southerly winds transport increasing moisture into the area. So far this month many areas have received little or no rainfall. For example, the WITN weather station has received only .03" since June 1. During the month of June we usually get about 5.00" of rainfall. Much of the area is now back into a moderate drought. This weekend is the best chance of rain for the next 10 days. By the end of the next week temperatures could once again reach into the 90s.
