Severe Weather Threat Ends In Eastern Carolina

A powerful cold front pushed its way through Eastern Carolina, producing severe thunderstorms and the threat of tornadoes.

Hail was reported in several counties, and there were some reports of damage. (See storm damage story.)

The National Weather Service issued dozens of severe thunderstorm warnings and several tornado warnings as the system moved through North Carolina.

The weather is expected to be quiet for the remainder of the week, with a warm, sunny forecast for the Memorial Day weekend.
