Severe Storms Possible On Mother's Day

A strong area of low pressure and cold front will approach Eastern North Carolina by late Sunday causing showers and thunderstorms to develop across the area. There will be a risk of severe weather as atmospheric conditions become more unstable during Sunday afternoon and evening. Heavy rainfall, damaging winds, hail and the risk of an isolated tornado could develop during the afternoon and evening.
