Two Tornadoes Touchdown In Eastern North Carolina

Two tornadoes hit Eastern North Carolina on Monday afternoon. The first tornado was witnessed between Belhaven and Leechville at 5:25 pm with no reported damage. The second tornado occurred as the same severe thunderstorm moved northeast into Hyde County. The tornado was witnessed as a waterspout crossing the river between Beaufort and Hyde counties before touching down about six miles north of Scranton. Once again there was no damage reported from the storm. The tornado watch issued for the area on Monday afternoon was allowed to expire at 8:00 pm. The risk for severe weather diminished during the evening.

    I saw the Funnel Cloud from where I live. I never did see it touch down, but there was certainly rotation.
