Heavy Rain Leads To Flood Advisories In NC

Severe weather has dumped between 5 and 6 six inches of rain on parts of North Carolina.

The National Weather Service issued flood advisories Sunday for Stanly, Wake and Durham Counties because of heavy rain.

The weather service reported total weekend rainfall between about 5 to 6 inches in some areas north of Charlotte, near Albemarle and near New Bern.

Officials also reported penny-sized hail coming from a severe thunderstorm near Wendell, but the storm weakened as it moved northeast toward Rocky Mount.
