A ridge of high pressure is continuing to push warm and increasingly humid air into Eastern North Carolina. Southwesterly winds and partly sunny skies on Saturday afternoon should push temperatures into the lower to middle 80s along and west of Highway 17. Along the beaches highs should reach the middle 70s. Slightly cooler readings are expected for Sunday with most areas in the 70s, The chance for showers will remain slight until Sunday afternoon as a cold front stalls out near the area causing a 30% risk of showers. By Monday a stronger cold front will cross the state bringing a good chance for showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be strong to severe, especially Monday afternoon.
