A cold front pushing into unstable air caused two tornadoes to touch down in Beaufort County on Sunday afternoon. The Washington Cam on the Washington waterfront was able to catch the second one as it developed and moved near the city. The first tornado hit on River Road just east of Washington at 3:45 pm and was accompanied by numerous reports of hail. The second tornado hit near Chocowinity at 4:38 pm and that was caught by the Washington Cam. At this time it appears neither storm caused significant damage but there reports of cars moved and and flipped along Old Blounts Creek Road off of Highway 33, east of Chocowinity. More showers and possible thunderstorms are in the forecast for Monday.
