Beijing tries to clean air before Olympics

BEIJING (AP) -- Beijing's city government has announced a
sweeping plan to improve air quality in the city ahead of the
Olympics.
The city's environmental protection body says the plans include
stopping all digging and concrete pouring on construction sites
from July 20th to September 20th. Nineteen heavy-polluting
industries have been told to cut their emissions by 30 percent.
Pollution has been a major concern in the run-up to the August
games, along with the violence in Tibet and other human rights
issues.
