A cold front bringing much cooler air passed off the North Carolina coast early Sunday but it was not until the evening when temperatures began to tumble. By early Monday temperatures should fall into the lower to middle 40s. Some spotty shower activity is expected over the next 24 hours but less than a quarter inch is expected. There will be a risk of some frost on Tuesday night as skies clear across the area. Temperatures could reach the middle to upper 30s in many areas. A nice warming trend will commence on Wednesday and take temperatures well into the 70s by Thursday and Friday along with plenty of sunshine.
