Heartland Receives Heavy Rains

Across the central part of the country, a developing low
pressure system produced scattered to numerous showers and
thunderstorms from the Great Lakes region, the Mid-Mississippi
Valley, and down into the southern Plains. The strongest storms
affected northern Texas and Arkansas where there were many reports of strong winds that downed trees and powers lines, as well as, many reports of large hail. Golf ball size hail hit Gatesville, TX,
Tyler, TX, and Moody, TX. There were even three tornado reports,
one causing power flashes as it damaged transformers
south-southeast of Gatesville, TX. Heavy rain affected much of this
region as well with 2.48 inches of rain reported at Tulsa, OK; 1.18
inches of rain reported at Topeka, KS; and 0.56 inches of rain at
Terrell, TX
