A cold front accompanied by low pressure will move into Eastern North Carolina on Saturday producing periods of showers and possible thunderstorms. Some of the rainfall will be heavy. Computer models suggest that some portions of the area could receive as much as two to three inches of rain during Saturday and Saturday night. The most likely area for heavy rainfall will along and just east of Interstate 95. This would include the cities of Rocky Mount, Wilson, Roanoke Rapids, Goldsboro, Kenansville, Tarboro, Williamston, Greenville, Kinston, New Bern and Washington. Significant flooding is not expected but heavy rainfall could create problems with driving and some area streams could reach the top of their banks. Stay tuned to WITN-TV throughout the weekend for updates.
