Springlike temperatures will surge into the area over the next 24 hours taking temperatures well into the 70s to near 80 degrees on Friday and Saturday. Temperatures on Friday night should stay in the middle 60s. We'll see some periods of sunshine but there will be an ever present risk of showers and thunderstorms in this warm and humid air mass. There will be a slight risk that some of the storms could become severe during the afternoon hours on Friday. The largest risk for severe weather would appear to be late Saturday or Saturday night as a strong cold front approaches from the west. Rainfall will be locally heavy in some of the storms and should average between a half-inch and one inch.
