Below normal rainfall continues across Eastern North Carolina despite recent rainfall. Some areas have received near normal rainfall but that has not been the case at the WITN weather station. Through April 3, only 8.98" has fallen since the beginning of the year. That amount is over two inches below normal. It is still better than last year when the station was almost four inches below normal at the same time. Rivers and streams across the area have seen their flow levels increase on the past few months but more rain is needed. At least there has been enough moisture for most farmers that are getting ready for the new season. Showers will remain in the forecast through Saturday night.
