Earthquake in Southern California

A small earthquake has rattled the Newport Beach, California, area.
A preliminary report from the U.S. Geological Survey says the
3.1-magnitude quake struck at 8:28 p.m. Wednesday, two miles
northeast of the city of Newport Beach.
A police dispatcher says there were no reports of injuries or
damage.
