Wind Advisory In Effect For Coastal North Carolina

A Wind Advisory is in effect for much of coastal North Carolina until 11:00 am on Thursday. This area includes the following counties: Carteret, Onslow, Outer Banks Dare and Outer Banks Hyde. it includes Morehead City, Beaufort, Emerald Isle, Newport, Jacksonville, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head and Southern Shores.

Strong south to southwest will continue through the night until a cold front reaches the coast early Thursday. Winds will shift to the northwest behind the front at 25 to 35 mph with gusts as high as 55 mph possible as the showers and front approaches. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
