A developing area of low pressure and a strong cold front are expected to push moisture into Eastern North Carolina beginning Friday morning. The rain should begin by late morning in most sections and continue off and on through Saturday morning. Strong to possibly severe thunderstorms may accompany the storm system by late Friday night or Saturday morning. We will continue to keep you abreast of the rapidly changing weather situation. In the meantime as much as one to two inches of rain is expected to fall before the system moves out of the area on Saturday afternoon. Much colder air but clearing skies are expected following the cold front on Saturday night and Sunday.
