A winter storm warning goes into effect at 7 a.m. Friday for Beaufort, Dare, mainland Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell and Washington counties. A winter storm advisory goes into effect at 7 a.m. Friday for the rest of Eastern Carolina. The threats are snow, sleet and freezing rain.
another round of storms may be headed to Eastern North Carolina after a brief break from Tuesday night's severe weather. The next round of rain and possible storms should move into western North Carolina by Friday morning and reach the coast by afternoon. It is too early to tell if there will be severe weather but the storm system needs to be monitored closely over the next two days. The greatest threat for any severe weather appears to be Friday night into Saturday morning. Before the arrival of the next system we should see sunny skies on Thursday with highs once again reacing into the middle 60s. Much colder air will follow the showers and possible storms on Saturday. In fact freezing or near freezing temperatures may occur by Sunday morning.
