Warm, moist southerly winds ahead of a strong cold front is setting the stage for possible severe weather on Tuesday night. A tornado watch is in effect for all of Eastern North Carolina until 3:00 am. During the early evening most of the severe activity was over western North Carolina close to the cold front. However, numerous showers and thunderstorms are developing along Interstate 95 and they will be moving across Eastern North Carolina between 8 pm and midnight. The most likely time for severe weather would be over the coastal plain between 8 pm and midnight. Coastal areas are more likely to see severe weather after 10 pm through 3 am Wednesday.
