A warm surge of springlike air began moving into Eastern North Carolina Monday afternoon taking temperatures into the lower 70s. During the evening temperatures were holding steady in the upper 50s as southerly winds were slowly increasing. On Tuesday the warm surge is expected to take temperatures well into the 70s as gusty southwesterly breezes continue to blow. By late Tuesday night a cold front bringing the potential for severe weather will move off the the coast with clearing skies and seasonable temperatures in the lower 60s expected for Wednesday and Thursday.
