The winter of record breaking snowfall continues across the Northeast. Nearly all of central and northern New England could see 8 to 16 inches of additional snow by Saturday night as a new storm system takes shape over the area. Many locations in the Northeast have already seen record or near record snowfall this winter while other areas have already doubled their average snowfall for the entire season even before Saturday's storm. The persistent cold across the Northeast has not allowed much if any snow to melt. In fact, record low temperatures were noted across much of the area Friday morning. Snow depth across much of the area ranges from 20 to 30 inches with snow drifts up to rooftops. Little relief is seen from the cold and snow for the next few weeks.
