A developing winter storm will spread snow across much of the Midwest and Northeast on Tuesday. Winter storm warnings are in effect from northern Illinois, northern Indiana, northern Ohio, western New York and much of western New England. Most areas should receive six to 12 inches of snow in that area along with winds gusting above 30 mph causing blizzard or near blizzard conditions. Cold Arctic air will follow the storm on Wednesday bringing frigid conditions to the Great Lakes and freezing temperatures into the Southeast, including North Carolina.
