Heavy Rain Hits Eastern North Carolina

Heavy rain that moved across Eastern North Carolina late Thursday night and Friday has helped the alleviate the severe drought conditions across the area. February is only the second month since November, 2006 where rainfall has exceeded the average monthly amount expected. Rainfall amounts from late Thursday night to 9 pm Friday include the following:

Jacksonville - 1.37"
Newport - 1.14"
New Bern - 1.06"
Greenville - 1.04"
Washington - .88"
Kinston - .88"
Cherry Point - .82"
Snow Hill - .78"
Goldsboro - .76"
Elizabeth City - .61
Rocky Mount - .45"
