An area of low pressure developing over the northern Gulf of Mexico will spread rain into Eastern North Carolina overnight into Friday. Rainfall amounts between one-half and one inch southern sections while northern areas (north of Highway 264) will generally receive less than a half-inch. The rain should linger into Friday evening before moving out on Saturday. There will be a slight risk of showers on Sunday but otherwise we should remain dry into early next week. Another strong area of low pressure could bring more rain by the middle of next week.
