Heavy rain hit Eastern North Carolina on Sunday night and Monday morning finally putting at least a small dent in the drought that has plagued the area for the past year. Rainfall amounts were generally more than an inch with some areas near three inches. Conditions will dry out for the next two days but another risk of showers will develop late in the week. Rainfall totals from Monday include the following:
Kenansville - 3.33"
Goldsboro - 2.90"
Greenville - 2.85"
Manteo - 2.45"
Washington - 1.79"
Cape Hatteras - 1.62"
Kinston - 1.59"
Edenton - 1.04"
