One to Two Inches Of Rain Hits Eastern North Carolina

Eastern North Carolina received its first substantial rainfall during the month of February on Tuesday night and Wednesday. Most areas averaged between one and two inches. Despite the rain Eastern North Carolina remains in a severe to exceptional drought which may get worse as the months go on. Because the very dry conditions a burn ban has been put in effect starting at noon on Thursday. Rainfall amounts from the Tuesday night-Wednesday storm include the following reports:

Greenville - 1.83"
Elizabeth City - 1.58"
New Bern - 1.57"
Kinston - 1.46"
Washington - 1.39"
Jacksonville - 1.37"
Manteo - 1.15"
Rocky Mount - 1.07"
Goldsboro - 1.05"
