On and off quick downpours will be possible through Sunday afternoon. Heavier rain could bring another 1 to 3 inches of rain to a few locations late Sunday and into Monday afternoon.
Record high temperatures moved into Eastern North Carolina on Tuesday. Washington had a record high of 79 while New Bern reached a new record high of 78. Record high temperatures are expected again on Wednesday. In fact, some areas may reach the lower 80s during the afternoon. The heat will be broken by scattered showers and a possible thunderstorm on Wednesday night. Dry and seasonable conditions will return for Thursday into the weekend with highs in the 50s.
