Icy Start Gives Way To Mild Afternoon

Tuesday's weather was quite unusual even for a January day in Eastern North Carolina. Some places started off the day with Winter Weather Advisories as small patches of light rain froze on highways and sidewalks between 4:30 and 9:00 am. By noon the sun broke through and skies became sunny warming temperatures in the 60s by mid-afternoon. More showers can be expected overnight but skies should clear on Wednesday. Temperatures overnight will stay well above freezing so there will be no concern for black ice on Wednesday morning.
