A Warm January Afternoon

Near record breaking high temperatures settled across Eastern North Carolina on Tuesday as a warm wedge of springlike air engulfed the area. The Raleigh-Durham Airport experienced a record high of 73 degrees, which broke the old record of 71 set in 2005. Elsewhere temperatures reached into the lower to middle 70s across most of the eastern portion of North Carolina. The mild weather will last through Friday although temperatures will cool slightly after Wednesday. Highs around Eastern North Carolina on Tuesday afternoon included:

Washington - 74
Kenansville - 74
Kinston - 73
Edenton - 72
Elizabeth City - 72
