Biggest Snowstorm In A Decade Hits Iran

As much as 22 inches of snow fell across central and northern Iran making it the heaviest snowfall in a decade to hit the area. The storm has forced schools and government offices to close, blocking major roads and leading to the cancellation of all domestic and international flights. The cold weather has caused problems for residents in western Iran where a dozen towns suffered gas cuts due to a surge in demand. Iranians have been told not to stay home and not make any unnecessary travel.
