Record Highs Possible Tuesday

A warm southwesterly flow of air combined with abundant sunshine will send temperatures well into the 70s on Tuesday afternoon. Some localities could see record highs. The warm weather will last most of the week although temperatures should drop into the 60s for highs on Thursday and Friday. The chance for rain will remain slim until Friday when a strong cold front will move through the area. By the weekend highs should lower into the upper 50s. Record highs for January 8 include:

New Bern - 78
Greenville - 76
Washington -75
Kinston - 74
