Snowstorm blamed for 9 deaths, outages

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Highways are hazardous for holiday travelers
and thousands of homes and businesses have no electricity in the
Midwest as a storm blusters through the region with heavy snow and
howling wind.
At least nine deaths are being blamed on the storm.
Winter storm warnings are posted for parts of Minnesota,
Wisconsin and Michigan as the core of the storm heads north across
the Great Lakes. Parts of Wisconsin already have a foot of snow,
and up to a foot is forecast in northeastern Minnesota.
The weather system also spread locally heavy rain from the
Southeast to the lower Great Lakes.
Because of the high winds, airlines canceled 150 flights today
at Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
