BLOWING ROCK, N.C. (AP) -- Both lanes of U.S. 321 near Blowing
Rock are closed after a rock slide covered the mountainous highway.
The Department of Transportation said crews are working to
stabilize a hillside and remove debris from the slide that happened
early Friday morning. The agency said motorists should expect
significant delays.
Officials expect to reopen the highway in Caldwell County by
Friday evening.
